Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome Treatment

IntimaLase® Medical Laser Treatment

What Is Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome?

It is the term given to stretching of the vaginal wall, and is often referred to as “loose” or “laxed” vagina.

How To Know If You May Be Suffering From This Condition?

One of the major complaints is loss of sensation during intercourse. Difficulty getting aroused is usually due to loose feeling and lack of friction sensation. Vaginal relaxation is also linked to vaginal wall prolapse and stress incontinence.

What Causes Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome?

This can be result of overstretching of the vaginal canal walls during childbirth and hormonal changes during menopause. Ageing and genetics (inherited collagen weakness) in some cases are contributing factors.

What Are The Traditional Treatment Options?

Vaginal loosening is traditionally treated by pelvic floor exercises (Kegel) and in some cases surgical treatment vaginoplasty (reshaping of vagina).

What Is IntimaLase® Medical Laser Treatment?

IntimaLase® is a non-ablative ErYag laser therapy that is used for non-invasive tightening of the vaginal canal.

With its “smooth mode” technology this medical laser stimulates collagen regeneration in the vaginal mucosa and surrounding tissues. Result is strengthening of the vaginal walls and tightening of the vaginal canal.

Depending on the degree of the vaginal relaxation 2 to 3 treatments, typically one a month, are usually required to achieve optimal results.

The Process?

During your initial consultation Dr Mirjana Janjic will take your medical history, perform an assessment to evaluate if this treatment is likely to help you and answer any questions that you may have.

Your IntimaLase® medical laser procedure will be performed on the following visits. It will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes per session

You can leave immediately after the procedure and continue your daily routine. There may be some minimal sensitivity after the treatment and a transparent discharge for 2 to 3 days afterwards. Excessive exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for 2 to 3 weeks. Sexual intercourse is not recommended for 1 week after the procedure.
